Destroyed twice, in 1231 and in 1313, thanks to the strategic importance of the territory, it was always rebuilt. Starting in 1405, during the Republic of Venice, the building became less important both because less suited to the new offense means and because the place was not along a border anymore.
The rectangular shape walls have a small pentagonal tower at each corner and a square one in the two longer curtains, while in the center stands a tower that controls the entire castle.
The castle houses a restaurant.
