Villa Contarini Giovanelli -Venier is located in the center of Vò Vecchio village. The construction of the villa dates back to the end of ‘500, in the nineteenth century the property goes to Giovanelli-Venier family. During the Second World War it has been used by the Nazis as a concentration camp for the jews from the provinces of Padua and Rovigo, inside it, have been detained men, women, children, and after a few months of captivity, they have suffered the sad fate of millions of others Jews exterminated in Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp.
Today the villa houses in the main floor the landscape museum with a rich display of the area old maps copies, the second floor has temporary exhibitions, the ground floor has become a Shoah Memorial, with the remains of the kitchens used by inmates and panels describing the drama that lived.
